In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We’ll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…

It’s Supercross season in SoCal, which means the test tracks in the area are getting put to good use by some of the best riders in the sport. Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park has one of the few “public” practice tracks for SX, but there’s no reason the average rider should try to spin a lap around it when the pros leave. Why’s that? It’s tough as shit! Everything starts well in the early morning hours, when the clay is glassy and full of traction, but by the end of the middle of the afternoon it’s turned into a hard-packed and challenging obstacle course. The whoops are particularly gnarly, as the slap of bike at full-speed across the rollers sucks rubber off the knobs of the tire. Besides, it’s way more fun to watch the good guys…
