When it was impossible to work on Saturday’s REM track at all on Friday —because of heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday, REM was forced to cancel the big “Last Race of 2016” scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17. However, they have rescheduled the race as a New Year’s Eve Special, although it will take place in the morning of Dec. 31, so as not to dampen any party-going later in the day. The downside of canceling the December 16 race is that it was the last points-paying race of the 2016 season and with three riders (Bob Pocius, Jon Ortne and TV Holmes) all locked into a tight battle for Glen Helen’s number one plate, it’s a shame that the regularly-scheduled Championship has to end without the final double-point-paying showdown. The new race date for the “Last Race of 2016” is Sunday, December 31, 2016, and it is a non-points paying race. For more info, go to www.remsatmx.com. Congratulations to TV Holmes — the new 2016 REM Number One rider.
