We’ve just learned that GEICO Honda’s Chase Sexton has suffered a pair of broken wrists in a practice crash today. The Illinois teenager recently wrapped up his amateur career and has been a prospect of the Honda squad for quite some time, thanks in part to his Supercross skills. Sexton and the team have spent the last few months prepping for the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series, and despite this setback, it sounds like things will still go somewhat to plan.

According to the team, the breaks in both wrists are “clean” and will not require surgery to mend the damage. Instead, Sexton will wear two casts for a short period of time. Since the injury is not incredibly serious, the team and racer expect to make the start of the 250 East Coast championship, which kicks off on February 18th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

We’ll share more news on Sexton as we hear it and hope for a smooth recovery.
